What if we approached our dying as intentionally as we approached our living?

Death, Dying and Grief are often taboo topics that we aren’t talking enough about. Unfortunately, choosing to avoid these conversations can have long term financial, physical and emotional effects on our wellness. For people from marginalized communities, specifically BI&POC and LGBTQIA+ who are already experiencing chronic low level stress in their everyday existence, this can sometimes manifest as anxiety, depression, cardiovascular diseases, insomnia, etc.

Mourning Flow exists to normalize and de-stigmatize these pertinent conversations. We are here to support you as you prepare for and create a meaningful death for yourself and your loved ones. During this sacred transition, there are no limits to how creative and intentional you can be. Let’s ease the fear around Death and Grief so that you can live fully.

Hey friend!

I’m the Founder of Mourning Flow, Chanel.

I grew up in a very death positive family. My Dad served his church community as a Death Doula and volunteer Hospital Chaplain and began teaching me 28 years ago how to hold space for families who have just experienced a loss of their loved ones, and how to sit vigil for those who are transitioning. My Father was adamant that I would need to know this information one day but I was anything but interested.

Over the years, the things my Dad taught me along with the experiences I had holding space organically unfolded to help others in need around me. But it wasn’t until my Dad passed away in 2019 that I would break open to share this work from a deeper empathetic perspective.

My hope is to ease some of the stress that you and your family are experiencing during the death, dying and grieving processes by providing non-medical care, support and guidance during this often traumatic time.
